P3 warmly welcomes Kiwigrid to the Energy Hub Alliance

Co-founder and shareholder P3 digital services continues to expand Europe’s largest pool of industrial energy connectivity.

Dresden / Stuttgart / Osnabrück, June 23, 2026 – P3 digital services GmbH (P3), co-founder and shareholder of the Energy Hub Alliance (EHA), welcomes Kiwigrid GmbH (Kiwigrid) as a strategic investor and shareholder of the cross-manufacturer industrial alliance for energy grid connectivity. With Kiwigrid, a recognized specialist in energy management systems (EMS) joins founding members HagerEnergy and P3, as well as strategic partner Vattenfall Europe Sales. For P3, as the EHA’s digitalization and platform partner, this marks a significant milestone: together, the partners are making industrial connectivity, virtual power plants (VPP), and artificial intelligence (AI) available for an increasingly decentralized, digital, and regulated energy market – with a clear focus on municipal utilities and energy suppliers in the DACH region.

P3 as the EHA’s Digitalization and Platform Partner

In 2023, P3 co-founded the Energy Hub Alliance together with HagerEnergy, and has since contributed the digitalization, integration, and platform expertise that transforms pure device connectivity into commercially viable energy products. With deep know-how in EV charging solutions, energy management, software architecture, and regulatory compliance, P3 translates the alliance’s open, cloud-based architecture into concrete use cases for energy suppliers – from asset control and flexibility marketing to the supplier’s own digital product.

Kiwigrid’s entry complements this cloud-side strength with proven edge and EMS expertise. The result is a hybrid edge-to-cloud architecture for the intelligent energy grid – an open, secure, and scalable foundation on which energy suppliers can build their own digital products and deploy distributed assets in ways that serve both market and grid needs.

Europe’s Largest Pool of Industrial Connectivity

With Kiwigrid’s membership, Europe’s largest pool of industrial energy connectivity takes shape: a shared, manufacturer-agnostic ecosystem spanning more than 200 manufacturers. The foundation is the EHA’s more than 40 technically integrated industrial partners since 2023, complemented by Kiwigrid’s connectivity library covering more than 160 device brands.

The decisive lever is consolidation: instead of each company developing and maintaining connectivity individually, it is centrally managed within the EHA and made available to all participants. This significantly reduces development and maintenance effort, improves availability and quality, and accelerates the onboarding of new devices and market partners – a clear advantage in scale and speed for the entire ecosystem.

An Open Foundation for Virtual Power Plants

The pooled flexibility of the participating companies gives rise to a manufacturer-agnostic flexibility pool. Distributed assets – home storage systems, photovoltaics, wallboxes, and heat pumps – are aggregated, forecasted, and controlled in ways that serve both market and grid needs via the shared platform. The HagerEnergy brand E3/DC alone currently manages around 180,000 home storage systems – approximately eight percent of all installed storage in Germany. In the face of negative spot market electricity prices, growing price spreads, and the upcoming mandatory direct marketing requirement, a VPP of this scale makes flexible capacity economically exploitable – for stable grids, new revenue models, and stronger customer retention.

AI and Open, Neutral Infrastructure as the Foundation

Artificial intelligence is a central enabler – in development, it accelerates the automated onboarding and testing of connections; in energy optimization, it improves forecasts and enables proactive, grid-friendly control. The foundation remains a platform that is consistently independent of any manufacturer or provider.

What the Expanded Energy Hub Alliance Offers Energy Suppliers

  • Open Connectivity: local and cloud-side connectivity to more than 160 device brands as a standalone ecosystem product.
  • Market Integration: integration of dynamic electricity tariff providers and the EPEX spot market, as well as contracting and onboarding flows for electricity agreements.
  • Virtual Power Plant: aggregation of upward and downward flexible capacity and connection of grid-serving use cases (including Section 14a EnWG).
  • Digitalization & Integration: P3 expertise in platform architecture, product development, and regulatory compliance.
  • Secure Operations: highly secure, professional operation of all connectivities in accordance with defined service level agreements.

“We founded the Energy Hub Alliance in 2023 with a clear conviction: the energy transition can only scale through open, manufacturer-neutral infrastructure – not through closed silos. The fact that Kiwigrid, a leading energy management specialist, is now joining as a shareholder powerfully validates this path and makes the EHA the largest pool of industrial connectivity in Europe. At P3, we contribute the digitalization and integration expertise that turns this connectivity into real, commercially viable energy products – for municipal utilities and energy suppliers that want to remain independent and get to market faster,” says Jozsef Farkas, Managing Director of the Energy Hub Alliance and P3 Energy GmbH.
