Line Balancing (TTCTBB)

Your Motivation

  • Uneven workload: processes do not meet expectations (low production, high inventory)
  • Poor workplace design and layout (inappropriate material flow, high transportation, high work-in-progress inventory, etc.)
  • Manual operations are not balanced and need to be combined to ensure an even flow throughout the process flow
  • Balancing operations should reduce the workload, resulting in increased productivity and elimination of downtime in the process
  • Balancing lines should help reduce employee rotation issues
  • Teams for continuous improvement should be formed (Kaizen teams)

General Learning Objectives

  • Immediate increase in productivity (average improvement of around 20% through P3 training)
  • Reduction of throughput time and WIP (Work-in-Progress)
  • Elimination of double handling of material (movement)
  • Reduction of labor costs per piece

Main Focus

Lean Basics

  • 5S basic training
  • Workshop
  • TIM WOOD depth of focus

Cycle time / takt time / OEE

  • Manual and machine time (waste & added value)
  • Dynamic video (time measurement)

Gemba walk and analysis

  • Process measurement
  • Creating cycle time and cycle time bar charts
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement

Process combination (Just Do It & Plan):

  • Layout optimization
  • Project plan with line balance
